Elementary Session is our shortest session- a treat filled few days with exceptional music opportunities for new and experienced players. Campers will experience a musical environment that is fun, safe, creative, challenging, and supportive. They will rehearse 3 hours a day plus any additional time they choose to devote to individual practice.
Our educators are especially skilled at elementary level teaching. We have experts conducting large and small groups, including beginners. In addition, specialists work with individual sections.

Level 1: New and Beginning- This group will be led by teachers skilled in introducing beginning techniques. This level is open for campers who have no musical experience or are interested in trying a new instrument. For those in this level, please contact the camp so we can discuss and prepare for a great musical experience with your camper.
Campers will participate in the final performance.
Level 2: For young musicians with some experience in either private lessons or group classes - Campers will study as a group and prepare a final performance.
Level 3: For advanced young musicians- This level will work with the group in preparing for the final performance. In addition, they will work with staff on more challenging music.

All levels must bring an instrument and all necessary accessories to play. Camp will provide books and music.
We will end the session in a full group concert. All campers will participate.
Outside of rehearsal, all camp and dorm activities are supervised by a live-in staff of college aged counselors at a ratio of 1 to 8. Our counselors are trained to recognize and be sensitive to homesickness and other challenging social situations, as well as assist in creating friendships. They provide supervision, entertainment, friendship, guidance, musical coaching, and much more.
In addition to counselors, we have an on campus adult staff consisting of 7-15 people who assist with supervision.
Objectives for all Arrowbear sessions include:
-Preparing an impressive final concert that involves the whole camp.
-Ending the session with all camp participants knowing, respecting, and supporting each other.
Our methods to reach these goals incorporate:
-An age appropriate session structure.
-Filling our non-musical time with interactive group experiences to help widespread bonding of campers.
-Intercepting ridicule.
-Activities designed to build acceptance and affectionate regard where no one is left out.
-Supporting the goal of the entire camp session becoming friends.
-Encouraging stewardship of our natural surroundings.
